Yorkshire Dales National Park Warns Off-road Users to ‘know the Rules’

andrew.regan.2006@googlemail.com asked:
Following the introduction of new legislation and in light of growing concern over the amount of damage incurred, North Yorkshire Police are joining rangers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park in an effort to stamp down on owners of off-road vehicles who use them in an irresponsible manner within the Park boundaries.
In a series of joint action days the police and rangers will be ensuring that off-roaders are aware of recent legislation changes, checking that their vehicles are legal and coming down hard on anyone breaking the law. They will be monitoring activities on public footpaths, bridleways and byways within the National Park boundaries ensuring that those using them for recreational 4 x 4 activities are doing so within the law.
As well as a new leaflet produced by the National Park, ranger Matt Neale points out: “There is plenty of information available explaining what is legally required of off-road users and exactly where they can go to pursue their recreational activities.” He believes there is no excuse for off-road users to ignore the guidelines, or the law, and added: “The leaflets we’ve recently produced can be picked up from some petrol stations and cafes in the National Park area, or can be found on the Park’s website.”
Neale also points out the potential damage that can be done to the environment by off-roaders, he said: “Even a small numbers of off-road vehicles in the wrong place can have a serious effect on the tranquillity of and sensitive habitats of the area – the very qualities that draw many people to the National in the first place.”
Neale is also concerned about the physical damage that can be done to the area; especially during the winter months when a driver will notice very little wear and tear on his 4 x 4 wheels or his vehicle, but the area in which he is driving can be excessively damaged. But it’s not just damage from 4 x 4 tyres that causes concern, bikers are in the firing line too, and because they have the potential to be driven down smaller bridleways and footpaths, also offer most risk to other users of the National Park. Ranger Neale is determined that excessive noise and damage to the Park will be reduced by this joint operation with the police and advises that off-road users stopped by the police who do not have the necessary licenses for their vehicle will also be subject to prosecution.

Angelia asked:
Trailers are of significance and are used for many purposes. They are widely used to lift heavy equipments including machinery, bikes, cars and tractors. Before buying trailers, the first thing to know is the kind of trailer you need and the best place to buy them. Trailers should be powerful so that they do not encounter problems and the task is carried out easily. Always buy from an authorized dealer who provides full warranty. There are a wide range of trailers that are meant for specific purposes. The different kinds of trailers include:
• Single axle series- include bike trailer and ATV hauler, mostly used for off-road or turf actions.
• Tandem axle trailer series- includes both general duty and heavy duty range of trailers. Tandem axle trailer is powerfully built.
• Auto and flatbed series- includes tandem axle trailers with open flatbed design available in both wood floor and steel floor. This is one of the most efficient car hauler series of the company.
• Equipment series- includes hydraulic tilt bed vehicle haulers and heavy equipment haulers.
• Cycle series- includes bike trailer series, specially designed with Equalizer Torsion Axles, chrome wheels and a rugged all-steel body.
There are also specially designed trailers, including:
• Fleet neck trailers- designed specifically for heavy duty vehicles. These trailers are equipped with heavy duty dove and ramp package so that no discrepancy occurs while using them. Rubber Truck Bed Mats And The Smashed Ranger
Filed Under Trucks | Comments Off
Al Bullington asked:
Not too long ago a neighbor asked me to help him split and stack a big firewood pile. Sure, I thought. As this project progressed, my mental anguish increased and my appreciation for rubber truck bed mats increased. Here’s the story…
See, the neighbor has a son with lots of energy and there were several other kids there too. So they get in a race to see how fast they can build a wood pile. Now the neighbor’s late model, like-new, Ford Ranger pickup comes into play.
There’s a short pickup haul from the splitter to the finished firewood pile. The shiny red Ford is the truck for the hauling. So at first the wood is loaded, with the neighbor son in charge, at a careful pace. Heavy, seasoned oak pieces are carefully placed in the Ford. Then as the afternoon wears on, the competition for speed increases.
The careful firewood placement evolves into firewood tosses. Now mind you these are heavy, hard oak slabs and the tosses are from fifteen to twenty feet out. As things progress, the wood starts to bounce on the bed of the truck. You can almost feel the dents. You sure can hear them. The blows fall faster and harder. The pace quickens.
Now the wood is raining on the fenders, on the rear window, inside, outside, everywhere the blows land. It’s like a demolition derby. It’s total destruction of a perfectly good truck. Dents, scratches and damage everywhere. It’s a destroyed truck in just a few hours. It’s amazing.
No truck bed mats can protect a truck from gross damage like that.
But rubber truck mats can stand up to almost any damage a SANE person would cause in normal use. Save your truck from expensive damage with some cheap bed mats.

Ford Gives Ranger Pickup Truck a Makeover
Filed Under Trucks | Comments Off
Matthew C. Keegan asked:
First introduced in 1983, the Ford Ranger has faithfully served as that automaker’s compact pickup truck, replacing the Mazda-made Courier which Ford had used since 1972. Today, the truck is still a compact unlike some of its competitors which have been updated and grown in size. That has worked to Ford’s advantage as the Ranger has the best fuel economy of any truck in its class.
The major drawback for the Ranger is that it hasn’t been updated in ages. While the bigger F-Series line routinely is redone every five years, the current generation Ranger has been virtually unchanged since rolled out as a 1998 model. Though Ford isn’t planning to roll out an all-new model just yet, the automaker is making some important changes to the 2010 Ranger, updates which will be included with the model when it becomes available in Ford showrooms beginning later this summer.
The two most notable changes for the 2010 Ford Ranger will be:
AdvanceTrac(R) with RSC(R) (Roll Stability Control) — that helps prevent skidding and dangerous rollover conditions
The new 2010 Ranger also adds new combination side air bags - offered standard - designed for head and torso protection
Powered by a 2.3 I4 engine, the Ranger gets class leading fuel economy of 26 mpg on the highway. However, the new safety features is something that should interest buyers the most, bringing the Ranger up to the same standards as its competitors.
“The 2010 Ranger’s Roll Stability Control and combination side air bag technologies will help occupants stay out of harm’s way,” said Steve Kozak, chief engineer of safety systems, Ford Motor Company. “The Ranger has been America’s most fuel-efficient pickup, and now it features a combination of safety features not offered in any other small pickup.”
The Ranger also offers safety and security equipment such as Ford’s Personal Safety System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and SecuriLock passive anti-theft system, all three are included as standard equipment on every Ranger model.
Ford has plans to eventually replace the Ranger, but the interim these updates make the truck more appealing and therefore more salable. Prices have yet to be set, but the Ranger will likely continue to be one of the best priced trucks on the market.
