The Mariners lost to Baltimore 14-4 against all Sportsbook odds which showed Seattle as favorite to win the game on Tuesday; but despite the final score it was a game Seattle could have won. Down 5-4 in the eighth, the Mariners had the tying run on third base with no one out. Seattle didn’t get the ball out of the infield.

It was a consistent problem all night, which reflects a problem the Mariners have had all season. In the third inning, the Mariners had runners on second and third with one out and didn’t get either man home. In the sixth, the Mariners had the bases loaded with one out and were unable to score.

If Seattle can come through there, perhaps Baltimore’s nine-run ninth inning have never come to pass. “We’ve got to find a way to get that run home,” batting coach Jeff Pentland said. “Everything you do in baseball is to set up that situation (man on third, less than two out) as often as you can.”

The Rangers are changing the look of their lineup. With designated hitter Phil Nevin in a deep May slump, the club called up hot-hitting, switch-hitting Jason Botts from Triple-A Oklahoma. Tremors were felt all throughout the lineup.

Hank Blalock, who was hitting fifth, Kevin Mench, who was hitting sixth and Mark DeRosa, who was hitting seventh, all move up one spot. Bott, who was hitting .455 over his previous 12 games at Oklahoma, will hit eighth for the time being.

“When somebody is struggling, you always want to put the best nine guys on the field,” Nevin said. “Right now, these are who they feel are the best nine guys out there. So you handle it professionally, whether you feel it’s the right thing to do. I learned my lesson last year. We have a good group of guys here and good chemistry, and I’m not going to do anything to affect that.”

After a productive April, Nevin had fallen into a long slump. He was hitting just .145 for May, and just .118 for the month against right-handed pitching. Nevin also hadn’t hit a home run in the month. Nevin sat out the three games played under National League rules at Houston over the weekend, but returned to the cleanup spot on Monday. He was hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts.

Ranger’s general manager Jon Daniels said the club is not actively trying to trade Nevin, who is making $10 million this season and is in the final year of a contract. Since joining the Rangers from San Diego last year in a trade, Nevin is hitting only .209

The New York Rangers is one of the original NHL teams. Lester Patrick established the team in 1926. They are one of the most popular teams in the Eastern Conference. If you need to see a Rangers game, it is better to buy the New York Rangers tickets in advance. Buying tickets early is sensible as you can get cheap tickets and the seats of your choice.

The Rangers History

In their second season, the Rangers defeated the Montreal Maroons to win the Stanley Cup. In 1932-33, the Rangers led by Bill and Bun Cook and center Frank Boucher, won their second Stanley Cup beating the Toronto Maple Leafs. In late 1930s, Frank Boucher became the head coach of the team. In 1939-40, the Rangers won their third Stanley Cup against the Leafs. The next several years the team missed playoffs. In the 1960s, the team was back once again. The Rangers went on to enter the finals twice in the 1970s but lost to the Boston Bruins.

In 1973-74, the series against the Philadelphia Flyers is till date known to be one of the most memorable semifinal series. The highlight of the series remains the fight between Dave Schultz of the Flyers and Dale Rolfe of the Rangers. In the mid 1970s, the Rangers acquired Esposito and Carol Vadnais from the Bruins. In 1975, Ratelle and Joe Zanussi joined the team. Swedish players Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson from WHA also joined the Rangers that year. In 1979, the Rangers defeated the Islanders to reach the finals. However, they lost the cup to the Canadiens.

In the 1980s, the Rangers played some tough games, though not winning any Cups. In the early 1990s Craig Patrick, the general manager of the Rangers hired Herb Brooks as the team’s coach. The Rangers picked up Mark Messier and Adam Graves from the Oilers. In the 1993-94 season, the Rangers won their first Stanley Cup in 54 years defeating the Vancouver Canucks. Crucial goals from Leetch, Graves and Messeir gave the Rangers the much-needed victory. Leetch won the Conn Smythe trophy that season. The Rangers were back in form again. New York Rangers tickets sale soared up for the next season playoffs. In 1996, the Rangers picked up Wyane Kertzky who led the team to the Eastern Conference finals. The Rangers however lost to the Philadelphia flyers.

In 2003-04, the team finally saw an upcoming phase. New players such as Petr Prucha, Dominic Moore and Blair Betts entered the team. In the 2005-06 season, the Rangers ended the season with the best record since the 1993-94 season. Henrik Lundqvist, Martin Starka, Prucha and Jagr pushed the team up to a great season.

The New York Rangers tickets sale was on a roll in the 06-07 season as the fans wanted to see their favorite team play. Sean Avery was acquired for the team. The Rangers played well but lost to the Buffalo in a tough series. Rangers have always been strong contenders for the Stanley Cup. New York Rangers tickets are always in demand due to the team’s popularity.

Los Angeles Clippers tickets are perfect for those, who are looking for some fast-paced court action. The Clippers may not have any big wins to their name yet, but they are certainly doing their best to snag a few victories in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently based in Los Angeles, California and play their home games at the Staples Centre. They are a part of the National Basketball Association’s pacific division and western conference. The Clippers have yet to post any big wins and were founded in 1970.

A Brave Start

The Clippers began their career as the Buffalo Braves. While they made a number of good acquisitions in terms of team members, they kept notching up bad performances on the court. By 1976, the owner was trying his best to sell the team and he did- the team was not only involved in a lawsuit, but also changed hands a number of times. In 1978, the team was finally moved to San Diego.

San Diego did not seem to fare any better for the team- even though their performance had improved, they had a long way to go to pull themselves out of the rut they were in. The team seemed cursed in that whatever good players they had were often out with injuries. With game attendance low, the team was moved to Los Angeles. Hopes were high that Los Angeles Clippers tickets would sell better than they had in the other places.

Seven Seasons of Disappointment

For those trying to get their hands on Los Angeles Clippers tickets today, it might be hard to believe that this team was regarded as being bottom of the barrel for seven long seasons. Key players were bogged down with injuries and in the case of Norm Nixon; the injury was sustained during a softball game. During the 1986-1987 seasons, the team made the dubious distinction of having the second worst season record in the entire NBA. Needless to say, sales of Los Angeles Clippers tickets were on the low side as well.

While continuing to play in a weak manner, the team was almost constantly acquiring and trading new players, while shifting coaching personnel as well. By 1999, the Clippers found themselves with a young and inexperienced team- going into the new century; many basketball observers did not see how the Clippers would make it.

And yet they did. Sales of Los Angeles Clippers tickets began to pick up almost immediately, after a number of players were added to the team, all of whom played a dynamic and high-flying style of basketball. By the 2005-2006 season, the Clippers were clocking in a number of winning streaks and finished with a 47-35 record. The team would go on to win its first playoff game in 16 years in 2006. The demand for Los Angeles Clippers games has now become so high that they have renewed their contract with a local television station. Moreover, there will be more spots on ESPN as well as a radio broadcast. If you would much rather see the Clippers live in action, you can see them without waiting in line- just contact an authorized ticket vendor online for your Los Angeles Clippers tickets.

It could be considered a baseball lover’s dream, 270 acres of a complex that exclusively serves as a source for baseball needs. As the saying goes, things are bigger in Texas and the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington holds up that statement quite well as giant for entertainment in the Southwest.

Constructed in a short 23 months, the Rangers Ballpark was built with the southern taste of Texas architecture at every turn. From the brick and granite façade to the exposed structural steel and asymmetrical playing field, Rangers Ballpark is big on style and space.

Built less than a mile away from the former home of the Rangers, Arlington Stadium, the new ballpark has itself situation on just about 1,400,000 square feet. Talk about larger and better? The Rangers Ballpark stands 114 feet from street level to the rooftop canopy!
___________________________________________________________________
The Rangers Ballpark comfortably seats 49,115 people in an open-air setting designed with intimacy and tradition in mind with a home run porch off the right field. The playing field is natural Bermuda Tifway 419. Grown on a sod farm in Granbury, Texas, this plush natural grass was laid in 100 foot strips by four in October of 1996. The irrigation system for the field pumps 750 gallons of water per minute, which is quite a contrast to the former field’s 18,000 per hour.

The dugouts are a spacious 68 feet with the Rangers’ bullpen situated parallel to the playing field in front of the home run porch. Both the Rangers’ and visitors’ bullpens are five feet above the playing field, allowing for easy identification of pitchers as they warm up.

For those who like the suite life, the ballpark as 120 suites; 72 on the upper level and 48 on the lower level. Suites are named after all-time star baseball players. Suites range from 8 seats to a huge 22 seats.

The Rangers Ballpark in Arlington first opened for business on April 1, 1994 and has been the home of the Rangers ever since. There are four levels in the ballpark. These levels consist of the service level, which is below ground, the main concourse which has a 70 foot high outer area and a 35 foot inner area. Green structural steel trusses adorned with the Texas Lone Stars and white walls cover this area. The club level is direct access for the upper and lower suites, the upper concourse is the open air area.

Concrete arches from the outer walls and provide an excellent reinforcement to the entire structure. With a scoreboard system that is second to none, fans enjoy a state of the art system that provides a game-in-progress board, auxiliary scoreboards, SportsTicker board and center field message board.

Additional features of the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington include the Walk of Fame, Greene’s Hill, and Statues in Vandergriff Plaza, The Gold Club, the Dr. Pepper Youth Ballpark, a Children’s Learning Center, the Legends of the Game Baseball Museum and the Coca-Cola Sports Park.

Wildlife Tour Packages

Jadiete Collinns asked:

There has always been an inherent human urge to delve into the depths of wilderness and unknown. Explore the untamed and the wild and you will know the pleasure of excitement and the thrill. The wildlife tour packages are some of the ideal options to quench this particular hunger of a passionate tourist who specifically has a penchant for the Nature.

The walloping number of 441 sanctuaries, 80 national parks and 23 tiger reserves created by the Indian Government in a noble attempt to protect wildlife on the whole is genuinely worthy of praise. You have got to feel the adventure by experiencing a day or two within the deep forests of India as part of the wildlife tour packages. The striped beast swerving through the wetlands, the swishing deer or the sprightly colored wild winged beings are absolute delights to watch. However what you have to include in the wildlife tour packages are jeep safaris, wildlife safari tours, elephant safaris, hotel booking and reservations at wildlife resorts.

The prime wildlife reserves in India that deserve to be explored more than once are as follows:

Ranthambore National Park

Kanha National Park

Bandhavgarh National Park

Kaziranga National Park

Corbett National Park

Keoladeo National Park

Spread throughout the country from north to south, every one of the wildlife reserves is individually special – homes to thousands of birds and animals. Ranthambore National Park, situated amid the Vindhyas and the Aravallis, is arguably the most famous of all and it is shelter to more than thousand species of flora and fauna apart from the ravishing big cat, of course. Among the wildlife sanctuaries in India, however, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary exhibits a montage of pied birds, of various species and breeds – many of them having migrated from the remote lands of Siberia.

Accommodation in the reserves gets smoother with the following:

Birders Inn Jungle Lodge, Bharatpur

The Gir Lodge, Gir

Corbett Roop Resort, Corbett

Wild Haven Resort, Bandhavgarh

Tiger Safari Resort, Ranthambore

Jungle Inn Resort, Nagarhole

Each one of the above is a unique example of wildlife preservation. Wildlife in India is vast and varied; the various colors of Nature can be discovered and adored during any of the India wildlife tours by visiting any of the mentioned reserves. These resorts are blissful experiences with plenty of opportunities to meet the grand predator and other animals and birds as well. The cottages to be lodged in are luxurious to the core, maintaining the natural ambience to the fullest.

A word of caution goes out to my fellow beings who are as enthusiastic as me – go for light cotton clothing for the hot summers and suitable woolens for the chilly winters. First aid and bare essentials are advised to be carried along rather than hanker for them in the midst of the so called remoteness. Make your wildlife tour packages worthwhile by planning them out accordingly. Log on to www.wildlifeindiatours.com to help you out in a better way.

Wildlife Photography Made Easy

Filed Under Photography | Comments Off

Sarah J Holt asked:

Ever try to capture a picture of wildlife only to end up with the tree or rock that the animal disappeared behind? Wildlife photography does not need to be frustrating, and wont be if you follow these easy tips.

Choose Your Subjects

The first thing to do when engaging in wildlife photography is to choose what types of animals you would like to take pictures of. This is important because you can learn a lot about them before ever setting out to capture their images.

Find Out Some Basic Information On The Animals

Do a quick search online or at a library to find out when the animals you are interested in are most likely to be active and visible. For example, if you want to photograph elk, you do not want to go out midday since this is not when they are walking around seeking food. If you want to photograph Elk you want to look for them in the early morning hours or the evening hours.

Know Your Camera

Success in wildlife photography can be greatly influenced by knowing how to adjust the settings on your camera for varied light conditions and moving objects. If you have an automatic adjustment make sure that it works well with fast moving animals by taking pictures of moving things around you, such as a walking child or a car driving past. Once you know how your camera responds to diverse situations in lighting and movement you can be more confident that you can capture that picture of wildlife that you’ve been hoping for.

Be Patient

Often times wildlife will come out when you are engaging in other activities, such as when you are enjoying a picnic in the woods. So, if wildlife photography is seeming elusive and challenging, why not grab a blanket, picnic basket, and head into the woods for some relaxing time while you wait around for that perfect opportunity.

Go Where Water Is And People Are Not

Two things are fairly consistent when it comes to wildlife photography; animals do not tend to come out when a lot of people are around making noise, and they have to drink the same as us. This means that if you want to have a better chance of photographing them head to where a river or lake is - one that does not have many people hanging around.

Wildlife photography is challenging and rewarding. The more you learn about the area you are photographing in, and the more you know about the behaviors of the wildlife in this area, the easier and more enjoyable wildlife photography will be.

The city of New York has nine teams representing the four major sports – baseball, basketball, football, and ice hockey. Two teams represent New York in ice hockey – the New York (NY) Rangers, and the New York Islanders. The NY Rangers are based at the Madison Square Garden, whereas the New York Islanders play from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale - New York. The NY Rangers is the older of the two teams and started playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1926.

The NY Rangers came into being as part of a franchise granted the Madison Square Garden by the NHL during the 1926-27 season. As the then president of the Madison Square Garden – G. L. ‘Tex’ Rickard - was responsible for building this team; the team came to be known as ‘Tex’s’ Rangers. This is how the team later came to be named the New York Rangers.

The NY Rangers have won four Stanley Cups – the championship trophy of the NHL. The NY Rangers did what no other team has ever done since – win their first Stanley Cup in their sophomore year. They won this during the 1927-28 season and followed it thrice more during the 1932-33, 1939-40, and 1993-94 seasons. They won this last Cup in front of their cheering home crowd at the Madison Square Garden.

The New Yorkers are proud of their team, which has won the Prince of Wales Trophy three times. The Prince of Wales Trophy is the NHL trophy awarded to the Eastern Conference playoff champions. The NY Rangers have also won the President’s Trophy twice. This is presented by the NHL to the team that finishes with the best record in the league during the regular season.

The Home Ground

The Madison Square Garden is home of the NY Rangers since 1926. That was the third Madison Square Garden, and since 1968, they have moved into the fourth Madison Square Garden. The Garden has 18,20 seats for hockey, and is unquestionably the most beautiful arena in the world.

The NY Rangers honors its greatest players by retiring their jersey numbers, never to be worn by any other Rangers team member. So far, the Rangers have retired four jersey numbers, and these numbers will hang – forever – from the rafters of the Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers Tickets

More than 25 home games are scheduled to be played by the NY Rangers until the first week of April 2007 at the Madison Square Garden. This is a great opportunity for the fans of the Rangers to watch their favorite team playing close up. With the games being played close to home, the NY Rangers tickets are definitely not going to be easy to come by.

With all the fans hankering to watch the games, the NY Rangers tickets would all have been sold out. It may already be too late in the day to expect to procure your NY Rangers tickets at the venue.

Your best option is the reputed ticket brokers, who have the resources to deliver your NY Rangers tickets to your door.

When choosing a career, do what you love. If your interests lie in animals, there are a number of careers to look into. Zoology, veterinary or wildlife management is just a few to compare to your interests. Also, while doing your search, look at your secondary interests to help narrow down the fields of interest.

If your secondary interest runs down the line of science or biology, you should take a closer look at a career as a zoologist. Maybe you’re interested in the healing aspects; the field of a veterinarian would be a good career choice. A career in wildlife management would fulfill your interests in animals and the enviroment, as well as some politics.

Wildlife managers usually work closely with park rangers and other officials, who’s interests are similar to your own. A lot of the work required for wildlife management is done out in the field in the outdoors. A wildlife manager’s basic job is to oversee the animal population to sustain a healthy ecosystem. This holds a great importance in the field of wildlife management.

What could be classified as a simple problem; could cause the ecosystem of one small section of the planet to be thrown out of control. It is the wildlife managers responsibility to maintain a certain level of control over these seemingly ’simple problems’.

An example…if the population of the possum, grows to a surprisingly large number; this event will impact that wildlife area. The increased population would result in an increased level of feeding on plant life which would produce a decline in the vegetation production. This could set off a chain reaction and affect other wildlife in the geographical area, due to the lack of available food.

This example proceeds in the opposite direction as well, but is just as important. If the population of a predator, maybe a mountain lion, increases; the prey it hunts stand the risk of becoming endangered or worse extinct. This is where the wildlife management job is so important.

Wildlife managers monitor the population increase or decline of any group of animals, in any given area on the planet. As you research wildlife management careers, you will see the efforts made, help to keep a stable and healthy environment for both man and animal. Whether a wildlife manager is assigned to a specific park or a full state; their objective is to monitor, and record the results of their findings, the animals and wildlife in that given area. If the open range of change occurs, the wildlife manager can react quickly and control the change efficiently.

If you are proficient in math and biology; plus, have an interest in the environment, politics and animals; a career in wildlife management is worth looking into. This job is not for everyone, once you collect your informatio, you decide if it is right for you.

CLAYTON
Gavin Cooper asked:

Glasgow has developed over many years, an almost limitless obsession with Football, and although it is not loved by everyone it certainly has like anywhere else in the world, a devoted following through differing generations. Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic are, for anyone who might not know, the two main teams in Glasgow and each team respectively have an independent and loyal following from their many fans across the city.

It has been well documented of course that both teams fans are not the best of friends to put it very mildly and there have been violent clashes over the years between the two, but the acceptance of Rangers and Celtic fans of each other in recent years has and continues to increase as time passes and a mutual respect has developed to bring a new air of calm to the cities footballing masses.

An interesting fact of Scottish football is that the first international fixture played between the Scottish and English national teams in Glasgow in 1872 is the oldest fixture in the world and the football rivalry between the two survived until the late seventies but has subsequently dwindled since then although there seems to remain a certain division from North to South.

Scotland’s National stadium, Hampden Park, In the Southside of Glasgow, now world famous was built way back in 1903 and owned the crown of the largest football stadium in the world until 1950 when the Maracana Stadium was built in Rio. In recent years Hampden Park was in desperate need of improvement and after many high profile football tragedies including the horrific Hillsborough disaster on April 15th 1989 the stadium was closed and subsequently overhauled and refurbished completely so that it was fully seated and finally reopened its doors in May 1999.

Hampden Park also houses the Scottish Football Museum, a must see for all the family and a great day out, The museum also houses on display, amongst many other football artefacts, the worlds oldest football ticket from the previously mentioned Scotland and England game, The Scotland hall of fame, and the oldest national trophy dating back to 1873. The stadium is widely used for a variety of other uses including concerts of which there have been many over the years, but the highlight of the stadium is when the football crowds descend upon it for big matches and the intensity of the atmosphere has to be experienced to be fully understood, Hence the description ” The Hampden Roar” that became a popular phrase among Scottish people.

Scottish football may not be a dominating force in regards to world football, but the heart and character of the support it enjoys is truly world class and this is reflected in the warm welcome the fans receive around the world, wherever they travel. And if you come and watch a football game in Glasgow you will receive a very special welcome from the “City of Smiles.” And that welcome alone makes the sport in Glasgow very special.
